SUPPORTS THE NATIONAL NAACP ENVIRONMENTAL AND CLIMATE JUSTICE PROGRAM THROUGH STATEWIDE SOLAR INITIATIVES
There are three primary goals for the NAACP Environmental and Climate Justice Program:
1. Reduce harmful emissions, particularly greenhouse gases
2. Advance energy efficiency and clean energy
3. Strengthen community resilience and livability
The Louisiana NAACP Solar Initiative accomplishes all three of these objectives in an affordable and sustainable way for our community members. Link to National Initiative

Solar panels collect energy directly from sunlight. The Sun is the Earth's most powerful source of clean and renewable energy. Energy produces by the Sun does not require use of fossil fuels. For many homeowners, this can help ensure the largest reduction in their own carbon footprint than any other clean energy choice. Reducing use of fossil fuels for electrical energy production preserves those non renewable resources for generations to come and protects the Ozone from further damage caused by greenhouse gases.
Solar Energy has been powering our planet since the beginning of existence. Solar energy produces enough energy in one minute to power our planet for a year. And it does not require the use of fossil fuels. Homeowners who choose to use solar can benefit from this clean energy efficiency by producing their own electricity for their homes. In the summer months, solar panels produce a surplus that is sold back to the electric company for a credit on your electric bill. These credits power your electricity in the winter months with shorter amounts of daylight. Therefore solar panels on your home will reduce your use of fossil fuels AND you electric bill throughout the entire year.
Louisiana NAACP Solar works to strengthen communities of color by providing homeowners with an affordable way to participate in the protection of our planet for future generations while drastically reducing, or in many cases, eliminating the family's electric bills. Louisiana NAACP has developed an initiative that requires no money down from homeowners and a monthly note of as low as $99 monthly, which usually replaces the electric bill. By doing so, we strengthen our environment and our communities of color for generations to come.
